LOCAL VOCAL SINGS SOUTH: The husky-voiced Hazel Miller snagged an invite from Working Woman magazine to open a three-day conference on diversity at the Hotel Intercontinental in Miami. Hazel was the opening act on Thursday for a dinner where actor Edward James Olmos was the keynote speaker.
The sultry Miller sang John Lennon's Imagine a capella, which moved one attendee to say, "John Lennon would have been proud if he had heard that."
Working Woman's Delwyn Gray first heard Hazel during the Technology, Entertainment and Design conference (a three-day gig attended by heavy hitters in those industries) in Monterey, Calif., three years ago.
Gray tracked her down to entertain at the Working Woman's event this year.
